Integrating Activity

A project-driven, workshop course, the class requires the student to consolidate the knowledge they’ve acquired studying in the Cinema, Video & Communication profile at Dawson College via the conception, development and production of a comprehensive project.   Because of the individualized nature of the coursework, students are given the responsibility of establishing the objectives and acquiring the means necessary for the completion of their project, as well as setting and keeping weekly timetables so to ensure the timely completion of the work.  Students are also required to develop and submit an inventory of cognitive competencies acquired through their study in the program. They will be asked to present a proposal describing the nature and significance of the project they plan to produce, as it demonstrates the knowledge and skill they’ve obtained through their studies. Finally, at the term’s end each student must prepare and submit a self-evaluation describing the relationship of the project to their program of study at Dawson, its methods and objectives, successes and failures.

Although the teacher will discuss relevant multi-modal works with a view to presenting models for creative production, she will function primarily as a resource person providing advice, guidance, and aid in the production process, ensuring that the project proposal is sound, the necessary materials and resources are acquired and the timetable is reasonable and respected.
